Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world

The Burj Khalifa (also know as the Burj Dubai) is a skyscraper located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Nowadays is the tallest building in the world since its topping out in 2010 with a total height of 828 meters (2,716.5 ft).

Its construction began in 2004, and was inaugurated in 2010 as part of a new development called Downtown Dubai. Its purpose is to be the centerpiece of large-scale and mixed-use development.

The decision to construct the building is based on the government’s decision to diversify from an oil-based economy and for Dubai to gain international recognition.

It was designed by Adrian Smith, of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, whose firm designed the Willis Tower and the One World Trade Center, both buildings in United States.

The structure also has a coating system that is designed to withstand the high summer temperatures in Dubai, and contains a total of 57 elevators and 8 escalators.

At a time of construction the funds had run out and the building had not yet finished being built, it was Sheikh Khalifa, the ruler of the United Arab Emirates, who granted monetary aid and financing to complete the work, which is why Flame Burj Khalifa.

The Burj Khalifa is a hotel with restaurant and viewpoints, although in the highest part it has three floors of telecommunications.

The prices of stay per night usually vary depending on which suit you choose, the price ranges from $2,500 and up to $40,000.

Sky City

As a curiosity, I must mention Sky City, a skyscraper that, if it had been completed, would be the tallest building in the world, surpassing the Burj Khalifa by 10 meters.

This skyscraper is a canceled construction project in the city of Changsha, Hunan, in south-central China.

The construction was canceled because it was reported that the building would be built on one of the 20 bodies of water that must be protected.

At the moment the foundations are itulizados like place of fishing.
